Symptoms

DMARC parsers reject the record
Missing v=DMARC1 or invalid tags
Policy ignored because the record is unusable

Possible causes

Typos, wrong separators, or HTML entities in DNS
Multiple DMARC records at _dmarc
Unsupported tag values

How to diagnose

Fetch the raw _dmarc TXT and validate tag syntax
Ensure a single DMARC record at that name

How to fix

Replace with a minimal valid record, then re-add options carefully
Example starting point: v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:dmarc@example.com
Remove duplicate DMARC TXT records

How to verify

DMARC validators accept the record
Test messages show a parsed DMARC disposition result

Prevention

Validate in staging DNS or a checker before production publish
Avoid merging DMARC with unrelated TXT strings
